Showstopping Musical Theatre Classics In A Thrilling Display Of Talent!

MELBOURNE - March 2026: Melbourne’s leading independent theatre group, Theatrical Inc, is set to present Theatrical Symphony, a special three-night event at the National Theatre in St Kilda this April. This extraordinary celebration will feature an exceptional cast of the group's strongest up-and-coming musical theatre stars, who will perform timeless hits from blockbuster musicals such as Les Misérables, Matilda, Annie, Hamilton, Dear Evan Hansen, RENT and Wicked, accompanied by a live 36-piece orchestra. The company is thrilled to welcome Australian stalwart of the stage and screen, Alan Fletcher, best known as Dr Karl from Neighbours, who will act as emcee for the evening.

Led by seasoned Musical Director, Conductor and Composer Kent Ross, this cast of extraordinary young voices will join forces with an electrifying live orchestra to elevate these beloved Broadway hits and create an intoxicating atmosphere that promises to leave audiences spellbound.

The cast of Theatrical Symphony features several stars from recent Theatrical Inc hit shows. These include 14-year-old Amelia Durham and 11-year-old Ayda Melody Hendricks, who shared the role of Summer Hathaway in the 2025 production of School of Rock. Also appearing are Emily McDougall, the standout leading lady who played Elle Woods in Theatrical’s 2025 production of Legally Blonde, and Jackson Cross, who starred opposite Emily as Emmett. Rounding out the highlights is John Yanko, known for his leading role in School of Rock and for featuring on ABC TV’s The Piano.

Performing at The National Theatre alongside a full symphonic orchestra, the concert spans musical theatre’s greatest hits, from timeless classics to modern favourites. I’ve created musical arrangements that honour the original works while fully embracing the scale and colour of a symphonic orchestra. It’s a celebration of the artistry behind these songs, and a chance to experience them in a fresh, exciting way.”

Kent Ross is a highly experienced conductor, boasting over 20 years in the field. Celebrated for his stellar musicianship and vibrant energy, Kent has garnered widespread attention. His extensive career includes musically directing and conducting more than twenty-five musical theatre productions, such as Les Miserables, Titanic, Catch Me If You Can, and Legally Blonde. 

From familiar favourites who have previously lit up the Theatrical Inc stage, to newcomers making their first appearance, this ensemble is set to deliver a must-see production brimming with wit, charm, and dazzling performances.

Theatrical Symphony is a joyful celebration of the music that makes theatre unforgettable, blending the thrill of live voices with the grandeur of a full orchestra. It promises an uplifting night of sound, energy, and emotion.
